County Council Armed Forces Champion, Councillor Keith Girling, said “I’m delighted that there was such a fantastic turn out for the first ever Boots and Beret awards evening. “
“More than 140 people took time out of their busy lives to celebrate the tremendous work which happens throughout our county in support of our Armed Forces community. Their contribution into our community is second to none whether as a Veteran, Reservist or Adult Cadet Volunteer Instructor.
“This showcase event, the first ever organised by a local authority, spotlights the tireless commitment of individuals and organisations. We wanted to show our appreciation and say thank you”.
Councillor Girling also thanked the event sponsors, Arc Partnership, Scape and Via East Midlands, whose support for the event has been vital in making the evening a resounding success.
