A Nottingham to Newark bus service will now offer connections to more communities and an increased frequency to communities thanks to funding from the county council.
Passengers can now travel on Vectare’s 92 service between Nottingham and Newark Northgate Station via Bingham and Farndon. The timetable of the new service has been combined with the existing 90 service and reinstates a bus link to California Road, the Copse and Almond Grove in Farndon.
Nottinghamshire County Council has part- funded this extension through its Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) and has worked in partnership with Vectare to bring these changes to passengers.
In Newark Town Centre, the new 92 service extends from Newark Bus Station to Newark Northgate Train Station and the existing 90 service will continue to serve Fernwood.
On Sunday’s, all journeys will be extended to Fernwood and buses will operate between Newark and Nottingham every two hours, bringing the number of return journeys to six instead of the four previously offered.
Councillor Neil Clarke MBE, Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment at Nottinghamshire County Council said: “We’re pleased to announce these service enhancements and the new 92 bus timetable, which will bring more frequent bus connections to communities between Nottingham and Newark.
"In collaboration with Vectare and with the support of BSIP funding, we are able to enhance and expand this service and it is our hope that this will be well-received by bus users in the area.
“By increasing the frequency of the buses and creating better-connected routes, passengers will be able to explore Nottinghamshire by bus - whether that’s to do some shopping, meet up with friends or enjoy local leisure attractions.
"With single bus trips capped at £2 until the end of 2024 due to the Government's fare scheme, I urge individuals to take the bus instead of driving. It's a cost-effective choice that also reduces pollution."
