Lady Bay Bridge, one of the most recognisable structures in Nottinghamshire, will be closed overnight to undergo planned maintenance starting on Monday 17 July 2023.
The resurfacing and bridge joint replacement works are expected to last for two weeks during which time the road across the bridge will be closed to traffic, while the cycleway and footway section will remain open throughout the works.
The maintenance programme will be carried out by Thomas Bow, on behalf of Via East Midlands and Nottinghamshire County Council, using overnight weekday closures from 8pm to 6am. This will ensure that the bridge, which is a key link over the River Trent, remains open during the day and weekend, minimising the impact on the travelling public.
As Lady Bay Bridge is a major route in and out of Nottingham, a diversion will be in place via Trent Bridge, Cattle Market Road, County Road and Meadow Lane. You can see the diversion routes in the map below.
Teams will also take the opportunity to undertake gully cleansing and drainage improvement works while the road is closed, minimising any future disruption to the travelling public.
The works form part of Via and Nottinghamshire County Council’s rolling programme of Bridge Maintenance keeping structures safe for road users across the county.
