Short break services for adults with learning disabilities
We offer residential short breaks for adults aged 18 to 65 who are living with parents or carers and have a moderate to severe learning disability.
Our professional team of staff are skilled at working with people with additional complex behavioural issues or health needs.
We can provide one to one support with all areas of care including personal care, social activities, eating and drinking, moving and handling and mobility.
We also offer additional health services including peg feeding, blood monitoring and administration of oxygen and rescue medication for epilepsy.
We have three units across Nottinghamshire, which meet high standards and are open for 24 hours, 365 days a year.
Each bedroom and bathroom has specialist moving and bathing equipment and we also have communal areas including dining kitchens, living rooms, sensory rooms and garden areas.
Our service not only provides a break for you, as a carer, but also for the service users. We offer a range of activities to suit the people who use our service and all our meals are cooked fresh on site and cater for all dietary needs.
People who are eligible for our short breaks can book into any of the three units, depending on availability:
- Helmsley Road Short Breaks: 29-33 Helmsley Road, Rainworth, NG21 0DQ
- Holles Street Short Breaks: Holles Street, Worksop, S80 2LJ
- Wynhill Lodge Short Breaks: 3-5 Wynhill Court, Bingham, NG13 8TE.
Find out if you are eligible
To find out if you are eligible for short breaks, the person who is being cared for needs to have a care and support assessment. You, as the carer, will also need to have a carer's assessment.
The results of these assessments will show the level of impact that caring is having on your health, well-being and quality of life. This will determine whether you are eligible for short breaks support.
