Children and young people's mental health
We have been working to develop and implement a simplified, responsive and efficient pathway that supports and improves the emotional wellbeing and mental health needs of children and young people in Nottinghamshire.
Following the national document Future in Mind-Promoting Protecting and improving our Children and Young People's Mental Health and Wellbeing (2015) we have identified some key areas in which we would like to improve.
Over half of all mental ill health starts before the age of 14 years, and 75% has developed by the age of 18 which show the importance of Early prevention, resilience and intervention.
We recognise we must improve access to timely support to ensure all children and young people are receiving prompt access yo an appropriate service.
Our focus to care for the most vulnerable is another key priority and we plan to review services for children and young people with disabilities, young people who are looked after and scope the emotional and mental health needs of unaccompanied asylum seeking children.
We understand the importance of accountability and transparency and will review and strengthen commission arrangements and fully implement performance framework.
The importance of developing the workforce is key to ensure our workforce are skilled, experienced and trained to provide a joint workforce plan and incorporating future capacity planning.
These are just a few of our key priorities of our five year local transformation plan. Read our transformation plan to see in full what our key priorities are to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in Nottinghamshire.
