Apple bird feeder
What you will need
- 1 red apple
- 1 packet gelatine (unflavoured)
- Water 100ml boiling water
- 2 tablespoons of cold water
- String
- Birdseed
- Small screws
- Spoon or small Christmas cutter i.e. star, Christmas tree, snowman etc.
Method
- First empty the packet of gelatine into a bowl of cold water, let this sit for 1 minute. bring the water to boil, add to gelatine and stir until completely dissolved. Mix the birdseed into this mixture.
- Cut the apples in half and hollow out the insides with a spoon or you can use your Christmas cutter to create a festive shape. After the centre is hollowed out fill each apple with birdseed mixture, set your apple bird treats on a baking tray and put in the fridge for 1-2 hours or until firm.
- Poke the hook into the top of the apple and tie the string.
