Information

The Dukeries Trail is a 32 mile route funded through the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA). Starting at Shirebrook in the west, it runs through the 3 counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire connecting at its east end to an off-road route into the heart of Lincoln. The Dukeries was the name given to the area containing the country estates of Clumber Park, Welbeck Abbey, and Thoresby Park, set up with the profits from the industrial revolution. On the way it passes through Sherwood Forest, as well as relics of the coal mining which funded the Ducal estates.
