Activities and venues

There are plenty of fantastic activities happening across the county as part of the Holiday Activities and Food programme.  Programmes run in the following school holidays: spring (Easter), summer, autumn (October) and winter.

Family activity days

We have several pantomimes, high ropes course, Santa’s grotto and ice skating on offer this winter, families are welcome to attend ONE pantomime during the festive period. At least one child must hold a valid HAF code, if you do not have a HAF code, you can register here: Register for a HAF code | Nottinghamshire County Council

The Nottingham Playhouse presents Jack and the Beanstalk

  • Thursday 2 January, 2pm. Fully booked, checks being made.
  • Thursday 2 January, 7pm. Fully booked, checks being made.

Mansfield Palace theatre presents Aladdin

  • Sunday 29 December, 1pm. Fully booked, checks being made.

Newark & Sherwood Palace theatre presents Aladdin

  • Friday 27 December and Monday 30 December.1.30pm and 5.30pm performances. Fully booked, checks being made.

Retford Majestic theatre presents Cinderella

  • Sunday 5 January 2025, 5pm.
  • Bookings can be made via the theatre box office on 01777 706866
  • Monday – Wednesday, 10am to 1pm.

There will not be a specific family day at the Nottingham Ice Arena this winter, but children can book onto the holiday club or visit Santa in his grotto and there are family skate sessions throughout the school holidays. Book here for the Ice Arena.

Adventures at The Mill

High Trek and ZipTrek courses are suitable for ages 7 plus. Ages 7-11 years require a participating adult to go on the course with them, children aged 12-17 years require a spectating (or participating) adult. Big Zipwire – suitable for ages 7 plus, children aged 7-17 years require a spectating (or participating) adult. Net Park is suitable for ages 3 plus. Children aged between 3-4 years require a participating adult.
