Active Travel Fund - Tranche 4
The Department for Transport (DfT) has awarded Nottinghamshire County Council £1.1m as part of its Tranche 4 bid proposals. A bid was submitted for the construction of cycle schemes on:
- Baulk Lane, Stapleford,
- Randall Way, Retford.
In addition, we have also sought funding to develop schemes in readiness for a future bid. These include:
- a route between Edwinstowe and Ollerton,
- a route on Hermitage Lane between the A38 and Hamilton Way in Mansfield.
In May 2023, the Government announced that we had been awarded £1.1million to improve Baulk Lane between Stapleford and the Toton Lane tram terminus. The funding secures the delivery of this scheme subject to the necessary design, consultation and approval process.
We will be undertaking a public and stakeholder consultation on the scheme.
Active Travel England (ATE) has not agreed to fund the delivery of Randall Way in Retford as part of this bidding round as the scheme was considered to not offer a suitable level of value for money. However, ATE is aware of our ambition to deliver the scheme and have therefore agreed to work with us in order to develop the scheme and find ways in which it could provide additional benefits, and therefore look to increase value for money. We are continuing to develop the scheme for inclusion in a future bid.
