Supporting children and families to be happy and healthy
Family hub networks are soon being rolled out in Nottinghamshire. Children’s centre services will continue as normal while we make the changes. Find out more about our roll out of family hubs and what it means to you.
The Children’s Centre Service understands how important it is for children and families to be happy and healthy. Our service helps with a range of support for parents-to-be and parents with babies and young children, up to their 5th birthday.
We can support with advice on getting your little one to sleep better, help with toilet training tips, advice with weaning, healthy eating and fussy eaters. We also run paediatric first aid training, baby massage and can provide you with information on the Healthy Start vitamins and food voucher scheme, along with lots of other health information, through working closely with our colleagues in the Healthy Families Team.
“I found coming to Babes group while pregnant really useful. I was able to get breastfeeding advice as well as advice and information about being a new mum.”
If you decide to breastfeed, we have regular BABES support groups and volunteer mums are trained to give support and advice over the phone, or in person at the groups. We are proud to be linked to UNICEF Baby Friendly and help run the Nottinghamshire Breastfeeding Friendly scheme.
We understand that being a parent is sometimes hard and so we run PHEW (Parents Health & Emotional Wellbeing) groups, helping mums and dads learn new skills such as mindfulness, along with the chance to meet new friends and get out of the house for a change of scenery. For parents who lack confidence we run a course to support you increase your self-esteem and we even have Meet and Greet volunteers who can be there to welcome you when you first come along to sessions.
“Just a fantastic way to show how much fun you can have with very little money and making new low- cost recipes”
We highly recommend the fantastic free Baby Buddy app for expectant mums and new parents.
